VHG – Vision Casting – Part 3: Mountains

VHG DISCUSSION: CASTING VISION [AGAIN] – PART 3

Summary:
The mountains and fields of the earth are the places where our vision is to be carried out. Scripture teaches that the earth and its fulness belong to the Lord [Ps. 24:1]. The earth is what He has created; the fulness is what makes up that world. Along with the creatures and the inanimate objects, that which also makes up the world is referred to as mountains [Isa. 2:2], or fields [Matt. 13:38]. These are what we know today as industries or disciplines. In these fields, or upon these mountains, spiritual transformation leading to practical results must take place. Bringing transformation to these areas is how the believer salts the earth [Matt. 5:13], and lights the world [Matt. 5:14]. The gathering of the local church is one avenue of transformation; however, left by itself, it will not produce the transformation that affects the world because the remaining fields and mountains are left void of saving grace and occupied by wicked spirits directing ungodly individuals [Prov. 29:2]. Let’s discuss our vision for occupation within these fields and upon these mountains.
Discussion Questions:

  • According to Scripture, the highest of all the mountains is the mountain of the Lord’s house [Isa. 2:2]. This is the spiritual mountain which sits above and feeds all other mountains. Properly interpreting the discipline of true spirituality is the highest of disciplines, and without it, every other mountain or field is out of course. Discuss practical ways the global church can recover its place as the head of society. What will it take to restore the place and prominence of the global church?
  • The Heart Conclusion – It is the heart of our Senior Pastor that all of God’s people see their value to the world as integral members of the Lord’s church, while working to restore the glory of the mountain of the Lord, His church [Haggai 2:9].
  • According to Scripture, fields and disciplines such as Education [Isa. 54:13], Healthcare, [Ex. 15:26], Finance, [Deut. 28:12], Commerce, [Deut. 8:18], and Government, [Prov. 29:2], should be Christ-centred and Spirit-led. Nothing and nowhere should be outside of or away from the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Discuss how we might bring these fields back to Christ, and how we can prepare believers for godly success in these areas.
  • The Heart Conclusion – It is the heart of our Senior Pastor that all of God’s people take their rightful place in society according to their gifts and appointed fields and no longer waste precious time jockeying for relevance within the four walls of the church’s gathering. In conclusion, it is his heart that believers everywhere will be found “occupying until He comes” [Luke 19:13].
