Beliefs

Statement of faith

We put forth the following statement of faith not for theological argumentation nor for denominational classification rather; our beliefs simply represent those theological values that we hold dearly as a Bible based church community. At Rhema what we believe is important to us but not as much as the one in whom we believe.

God

We believe that there is only one true and living God, who is the source and sustainer of all things. He has revealed Himself to us in a threefold manner as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Holy Scripture

We believe that the Scriptures, both Old & New Testaments, are the inspired word of God. Free from all error and complete in their revelation, the Scriptures serve as the final authority for the Christian life and faith.

Creation

We believe that the universal creation is the work of God with humanity, male and female, being the crown of creation. Created in the image of God, human beings possess intrinsic value and worth. As such we believe that all human life is sacred and to be treated with the highest level of dignity.

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God. As the Son of God he is the complete and final revelation of the Invisible God and he is the only way to God. For those who believe in his name he is the mediator of eternal life.

Salvation

We believe that salvation is the redemptive plan of God for humankind to attain freedom from sin and to experience fullness of peace and prosperity. This plan has been made available to all through the shed blood of Jesus Christ and faith in him.

The Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is God Himself living within the spirit of the believer. The Holy Spirit comes for the purposes of equipping and empowering the believer on their journey to becoming the perfect reflection of Jesus Christ.

The Church

We believe that the church is a global community of those who have been born again through acceptance of Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Also referred to as the body of Christ, the church is a spiritual community of those who are living the life of faith in obedience to the word of God.

Marriage

We believe that marriage is the union of one man and one woman, as ordained by God in Holy Scripture. We further believe that marriage is the foundation of all society and as such it is a holy and an honorable estate that is not to be severed or adulterated. We also believe that, marriage serves as the visible symbol of the union that exists between Jesus Christ and his church.

The Kingdom

We believe that the Kingdom of God is the rule of God in the heaven and the earth. The Kingdom’s rule begins in the human heart and continues out into every area of life. The church has been called out by God to give expression to the reality of the Kingdom’s presence here on the earth.

The End

We believe that the end of the age will be marked by the visible and bodily return of the Lord Jesus Christ. At which time the judgment of all humanity will take place, with the righteous being ushered into eternal life and the unrighteous into eternal death.

Even so, come Lord Jesus
